MOSTLY NATIVE CALIFORNIAN

Living in California is a mixed blessing. Two of my adult children
with families live here. A huge blessing!
Several great art supply stores, and beaches, yay.
The other side is the politicians who represent California are
hugely embarrassing , as well as the Hollywood worship.
Disney – nice for little kids, but who wants to stand in line for
one hour or more for each ride??
Maybe another version of  Californians
than you hear about in the news
but most (90+%) are very hard-working,
middle-class suburbans
(the good kind, lol) who penny-pinch
and live simply, like most do.

San Diego House, specialized in Coffees and teas
Since California was formerly Mexico, there are still many Mexican influences in buildings, art, etc.

On the inside of the back door, this specialty store in teas
and coffees. What you see is not even half of this nostalgic
store. Of course I could order on line, but you can’t smell
and taste it! The latter puts a smile on my face!
May be I can revisit it on one of my vacations🙂

Orange Poppies are more common than the
red or white. The poppy is California’s state flower

Palms and Cacti – undeniably native to this state.
Summer is here, most of the year!

  Weekend Reflection, Makro Tex
You may not realize many Chinese live in the Los
Angeles and San Francisco area.
Also many were here for the railroad
and gold Rush. A while ago a youth pastor told,
I need an assistant who speaks Mandarin!

Just a simple row of Trees and a spectacular
sky makes me happy and smile.

  1. We’ve been to California three times Jesh, the last time being in 2003. We loved it each time and 95% of the people we met were lovely (mind you we did avoid spending much time in the very large cities). Almost time we thought about visiting again…
Thank you for taking part in the “My Sunday Best” meme.

  2. Several years ago there used to be an advert on UK television encouraging people to visit California which also starred the former England football (soccer) captain David Beckham. I can’t say it ever made me want to go but your posts certainly do!

  3. It occurred to me that I have visited California more often than any other state west of the Mississippi. My sister lives in San Diego County, my niece does too and went to college at Berkeley.

  4. I love that old cash register. I know California weather is as close to ideal as you can get and that there is so much going on there (in a good way), but I’m happy being a New Englander, or, as some say, a resident of the Right Coast 😉
